LEARNING

ADULT SUMMER SUNDAY MORNING FORMATION is a study of The Benedict Option by Rod Dreher, described as the “most important religious book of the decade”. We will use this book as a guide to ask the question, whether we agree with Dreher 100% or not, “What will God have us to do as a community?” You can order a copy of the book through the Amazon link on our website (see above). Sundays, 9:30am, in the Library, led by Jon Corbett.

SMALL GROUP LEADER TRAINING is designed to transform small group ministry and renew your love for Jesus by training you to lead interactive Bible studies. You'll learn a new skill while you deepen your love for Jesus and Scripture. Join us for a day of wonder and encouragement as we discover together the beauty of Jesus! August 18-19, McCray Hall, led by Maggie Snyder & Bob Loker. More details and registration at www.smallgroup-purcellville.eventbrite.com

NEW SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS NEEDED! Friends, as we prepare for the new program year, we are looking for new teachers to share their talents with our children! With all of the little ones in the church, there has been interest in a Pre- Kindergarten class, but need two teachers to make that happen! You do not have to have a teaching certificate to teach Sunday School! Ask any of our current teachers and they will share that the job is not only rewarding, but we provide instruction and guidance! In addition, we work with your busy life and can accommodate those days that you may not be able to teach. Please contact Kathleen Voss for more information!

SUNDAY SCHOOL REGISTRATION: Sunday School begins on September 10th! Registration will be available in mid- August for the 2017-2018 program year. Parents of children aged K – 8th grade are encouraged to register on line at www.stpetes.net We are hoping to offer a pre K class this year and are searching for a teacher. More information to come!

FALL ADULT FORMATION CLASS – STARTS SEPTEMBER 10: A recipe for Discipleship found in the Parables." How many of us have been raised to think that the parables are "Earthly stories with heavenly meanings." But, Jesus was the greatest storyteller imaginable. He knew all the tricks, surprising his audiences and what's more, he is still surprising us! The word parable in Greek means "comparison." We can look at a parable as a comparison drawn from natural life, from our daily existence, that clarifies for us a spiritual truth. Led by Jaqueline Whalen in McCray Hall, Sunday mornings, 9:30am, September 10-November 12.

CHRISTIANITY EXPLORED: What’s the best news you have ever heard? We all get one life to live and deep down we’re all asking the same question – what’s it all about? Christianity Explored gives you time and space to think through who Jesus is and why it matters. Wednesday evenings from 7-9pm, starting September 13, at The Gathering Place at Trillium Farm, 18915 Lincoln Rd., Purcellville. Questions? Contact Dell Nunaley or visit www.stpetes.net .
