PRAYER NEEDS: Individuals and families may choose to have their names placed on the public and/or private prayer lists. The names on the public prayer list are included during the Prayers of the People during worship on Sunday and in the bulletin.  St. Peter’s Prayer Quilt members spquilt@stpetes.net pray for the people on the private list.  Names are listed for four weeks. If you would like someone to remain on our list, please send us an update every 4 weeks.

NEW WAYS TO PRAY!  We have been doing a lot of praying in new ways this year. Consider joining us or making use of any, or all, of the opportunities below –

  • Sweet Hour of Prayer every Wednesday at 10:30 with seven of us regularly gathering.
  • Using our new Prayer Cards on the first Sunday during prayers of the people.
  • Turning the altar in the Chapel into our Prayer Altar, covered with new prayer requests.
  • The Vestry is incorporating praying together into our Strategic Plan and into Vestry meetings.
  • And the latest: Gathering an intercessor team to pray for people in-person after church on Sundays. Once the crowd has left the Nave, they’d be happy to meet with you discreetly one-on-one to pray with you.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

BULLETIN DEADLINE – Please submit all announcements for the Sunday Bulletin by noon on Wednesday to ensure inclusion in the upcoming bulletin.  Send announcements to office@stpetes.net.

CHURCH SERVICE ONLINE – Even though you may be on vacation, traveling for sports or work, here’s the link to the service so you can join remotely! https://www.youtube.com/@saintpetersepiscopalchurch6579/streams

ALTAR GUILD – Please consider serving with the group of ladies who have been very short-handed in the previous months.  Our duties are light when we only need to serve once a month. (Saturday morning: 1-2 hrs., Sunday morning: 20 min. before the 9:30 am service, and after the service removing altar items and putting them away). You will always have a partner who will work right along with you. Please think about this and pray along with us that we can welcome some new members. Feel free to ask questions from one of the people you see serving each week or call Karen Wilson 540-533-0528.

PARENTS NIGHT OUT -Saturday January 17th from 4:00-7:00pm. Dinner will be provided along with games, crafts, and a movie! Register by January 12 to office@stpetes.net.

CHILI POT-LUCK DINNER – Who has the best Chili???? Who wants bragging rights??? We are having our 2nd annual chili pot-luck dinner on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 6:00 pm in McCray Hall. There is a sign-up sheet in McCray Hall, so don’t be shy!

TREE OF LIFE MONTHLY FOOD DRIVE – Our monthly food drives last year were a huge success, and we’ll continue to do them again in 2026.  Like last year, each month will have a fun theme to it.  Be sure to pick up your St. Pete’s bag in the Narthex and bring it back within a week or two.  January’s theme is “Clean it Up”.  We’re asking you to bring items like Paper Towels, Cleaning Products, Tissues, etc.  Bring the bag back by the last Sunday of the month- January 25th.  For questions or feedback reach out to Marcia Davis – marcia.davis2018@gmail.com

LEARNING

PERSON OF JESUS – Do you want to be more like Jesus? The Person of Jesus study introduces a Jesus who is so personal and so rich in love that you want to know him better. The POJ study is designed in an interactive format that lets participants process a fresh way of looking at Jesus’ life every Sunday at 11:00 am. The POJ camps out in the gospels, so it’s easy to put yourself in the scene. You can feel Jesus’ love as he interacts with people no one else is interested in. “That’s the kind of love that can change marriages and friendships. Every person can benefit from learning to love better, and along the way they can learn that they are loved completely and perfectly.” (Brian Morgan, see Jesus’ missionary). Questions? Contact Anne Schultz – 703-727-6652.

THURSDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDY – Next Step Community Bible Study will resume meetings on Thursday, January 8th from 6:30-8-00 pm in the library.

ADULT FORMATION: FIGHT FOR SOULS – Share a meal, share the gospel. If you desire to do what Jesus says, consider joining the Fight for Souls group!

“When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too.  And as He was praying, heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended on Him in bodily form like a dove.  And a voice came from heaven:  ‘You are My Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.’” Luke 3:21-22

“And He said to them, ‘It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority.  But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.’”  Acts 1:7-8

“He will destroy death forever.  The Lord God will wipe away every tear from every face.  He will take away the shame of His people from the earth.  The Lord has spoken.  Is. 6:8-10

“All world views are some form of ‘survival of the fittest’, but the difference in Christianity is that The Fittest comes down and sacrifices Himself for the weakest.”  -Glenn Scribner

Next meeting will be 4 pm tonight at the Novak house.
