PRAYER NEEDS: Individuals and families may choose to have their names placed on the public and/or private prayer lists. The names on the public prayer list are included during the Prayers of the People during worship on Sunday and in the bulletin.  St. Peter’s Prayer Quilt members spquilt@stpetes.net pray for the people on the private list.  Names are listed for four weeks. If you would like someone to remain on our list, please send us an update every 4 weeks.

NEW WAYS TO PRAY!   We have been doing a lot of praying in new ways this year.  Consider joining us or making use of any, or all, of the opportunities below –

  • Sweet Hour of Prayer every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. with seven of us regularly gathering.
  • Using our new Prayer Cards on the first Sunday during prayers of the people.
  • Turning the altar in the Chapel into our Prayer Altar, covered with new prayer requests.
  • The Vestry is incorporating praying together into our Strategic Plan and into Vestry meetings.
  • And the latest: Gathering an intercessor team to pray for people in-person after church on Sundays. Once the crowd has left the Nave, they’d be happy to meet with you discreetly one-on-one to pray with you.

BULLETIN DEADLINE – Please submit all announcements for the Sunday Bulletin by noon on Wednesday to ensure inclusion in the upcoming bulletin.  Send announcements to office@stpetes.net.

PENTECOST SUNDAY – JUNE 8, 2025 – WEAR RED!  Join us as we celebrate Pentecost.

MISSION TO GUATEMALA – Our Mission team leaves for Guatemala on June 14,2025.  Included in the bulletin is a prayer calendar for the mission trip.  Please take it home and pray for the team.

HOPE FOR HOME – For years St. Peter’s Mission Committee has collected items needed by Hope for Home (home for severely disabled children) located in a village in Guatemala. With our help Hope for Home has thrived and grown. It now includes 2 separate homes for severely disabled children: a third for the disabled who have aged out of Hope for Home but who cannot live on their own.  In addition, they have established 2 Birthing Centers that also provide Pre and Post natal services.  As much as the economy is affecting each of our budgets it is ravaging Third World nations, and more children are lacking the nutritional needs to be healthy.  If you would like to keep our blessings of love flowing from the U.S.A. to these needy children just pick something from the list and drop off in the box in the Narthex. These will be taken down by our Mission group in June.

Items are as follows:

  • Food thickener
  • Waterproof pads and pillow covers
  • Waterproof (zippered) mattress covers for twin and/or crib size
  • Absorbent/waterproof bibs for droolers
  • Boys’ underwear size 10 to adult small
  • Girls’ underwear sizes 5T and up
  • Girl’s training bras up to adult small
  • Hair bands / Chapstick
  • Big and small hairbrushes
  • Waterproof pads (for chairs or beds)
  • Oral sensory toys
  • Tylenol (child & adult strengths)
  • Benadryl (child & adult strengths)
  • Melatonin (5mg and 10 mg)
  • Anti-itch cream
  • Triple antibiotic cream
  • Diaper rash cream

BABY BOTTLE CAMPAIGN: Mother’s Day – Father’s Day. St. Peter’s is partnering with Mosaic Virginia Pregnancy Resource Center to help provide care and encouragement to mothers in crisis. Mosaic supports women by meeting their material and emotional needs so they can focus on giving life to their unborn baby.  We kicked off the Baby Bottle Campaign on Mother’s Day to support Mosaic! It’s easy to get involved. Pick up your empty baby bottle in the entryway and fill it with change, check, or cash. Then, bring it back to church by the pickup date, Father’s Day, June 15, 2025. That’s it! Your donation funds the community of moms in Loudoun County who bravely choose life. Questions? See Maggie Heim for more information.

PURCELLVILLE MEN’S BREAKFAST – Saturday, June 7, 2025 – Men of St. Peter’s!  Mark your calendar for our next monthly Men’s Breakfast Fellowship!  A reminder that Saturday, June 7th, the Men’s Breakfast Group meets in McCray Hall at 0700 for a hearty breakfast and good fellowship; and at 0730 a time of presentation and discussion amongst those in attendance.   This month Dell Nunaley will speak on The Biblical Logic of Otherness.  Please come and bring a friend for company as we explore together!

THE 2025 BEACON DINNER – at St. Peter’s, Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 6:00pm.  Let’s get together as God’s Pentecostal people to break bread, have fun, and celebrate.  We’d also like to show our appreciation for all the people who helped make the past year successful.  This includes awarding one extra-special person the St. Peter’s Beacon Award. Dinner will be Potluck.  There is a signup sheet in McCray Hall or RSVP to Paula at bookkeeper@stpetes.net so we know how many to expect.  We are also looking for a couple of volunteers to coordinate setup and cleanup.

NEW COURSE: EXPLORING YOUR FAITH

Our new Bishop, Mark Stevenson, is coming September 28 for his first visitation with us.  I am excited.  I have found much to be impressed with in him, and I think you will too.

His coming is an opportunity for many of us to “take the next step” in your journey with Jesus.

  • If you were baptized as a small child and are now ready (at 15-16 years old) to speak for yourself and publicly own your faith in Jesus.
  • If you came to St. Peter’s from another Christian tradition and would like to take the plunge with us in the Anglican Communion,
  • If you’ve been away from Christian faith and community for some time but have returned and are now renewing your connection.

The Bishop will formally confirm, receive and renew you!

If you want to take that step, we need to start preparing. Join us Sunday, June 22, 11:15 am, in the Library.

  • Part I – Creed. What do Christians believe? And why?  A 4-part study (June 29 with lunch, July 6, 13, 20) of the Church’s foundational statement of faith, the Nicene Creed, explores what we believe.
  • Part II – Covenant. What do Christians DO?  And why?  A 4-part study (Jul 27 with lunch, Aug 3, 10, 17) of the Baptismal Covenant, the liturgical act of commitment, which defines our path of discipleship.
  • Part III – Anglican Way. You ARE who you “hang” with. The people of St. Peter’s are part of a global communion of churches 80 million strong, following Jesus in Britain and beyond since the 2nd century.  We’ll discuss what that means for us (Aug 24 with lunch, Sept 7, 14,21).

FIGHT FOR SOULS: SHARING THE WORD

Then Jesus looked around and said to His disciples, ‘How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God!’  And the disciples were astonished at His words.  But Jesus answered again and said to them, ‘Children, how hard it is for those who trust in riches to enter the kingdom of God!  It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.’  And they were greatly astonished, saying among themselves, ‘Who then can be saved?’  But Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible.’”  Mark 10: 23-27

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”  Eph. 2:8-9

“This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says:  ‘In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it.  Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore He will rise up to show you compassion.  For the Lord is a God of justice.  Blessed are all who wait for him! He will be very gracious to you at the sound of your cry; when He hears it, He will answer you.”  Is. 30:15,18-19.

Lord Jesus, thank you for your grace and favor.  Help me to walk in righteousness and love to the Glory of thy name.  Amen

The next meeting will be held at 5:00 p.m. today, June 8, 2025, at the Novak House.
